Pieces of You
I used to remember everything
about your apartment
the peeling yellow wallpaper
sinking into the newest hole
I hid with pictures
when your mother came over
I used to remember everything
about the nights
you tried to emboss my squirming body
into a shallow grave
in your mattress
blanketed me
in your stale sleepy breaths
I used to remember everything
about you
but now I remember
only pieces
your cold sheets
your sandpaper face
the back of your heavy hand
