Motel Soap 

Someone else’s cigarettes
lingered anonymously
curious floating fingers
that sank their smoky hands
into my hair
curled around
my clasp
unwrapped

the motel soap
we showered with

a chalky glove
a dry memory
it lived in the cracks
of my hands
long after
I had left
